Beat me to it.

FreezeTagFrank

Steven Seagal

[deleted]

If you think his acting is bad, wait until you hear his music.

MickeyRipple

If you think his acting is bad and his music, wait until you see his martial arts.

thornybacon

If you think his acting, music and martial arts are bad, wait until you see his running...

Ragnarok2kx

If you think his acting, music, martial arts and running are bad, wait until you read [his book](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36345209-the-way-of-the-shadow-wolves). It has a foreword by Joe Arpaio!

thornybacon

If you think his acting, music, martial arts, running and book are bad, wait until you read his A.M.A on this very website https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/4i0jso/i_am_actor_steven_seagal_live_from_thailand_ama/

FreezeTagFrank

So we all agree he's a legend it seems.

Necessary-Ad3576

Your comment was the icing on this hilariously layered cake *chefs* *kiss*

Asleep_Structure_493

If you think *all that's* bad, wait until we learn why he became lapdog to Vladimir Putin.

Psyko_sissy23

If you think his acting, music, martial arts, running, book, and his AMA are bad, have toy seen his hair?

ProjectShadow316

I never get tired of reading that.

DiGodKolya

Is he actually bad at martial arts? There was a story about him growing up I heard that he was pretty good and even had Asian trainers in Asia acknowledge him but I never actually researched any of it

darybrain

He had two aikido dojos in Japan and was the first non-Japanese to be allowed to do so. Also, being a black belt and higher suggests that you pretty good unless people are suggesting that his style of martial arts is rubbish. Obviously, the rankings after black belt are more political, but still the elders must respect you. People don't like him and he has said and done a lot of shitty things, but he must have had some talent with his chosen style.

Mavywavy13

Just watch his martial arts you'll know

FreezeTagFrank

His policing I assume is good.

[deleted]

He's not just good at policing, he's above the law.

Necessary-Ad3576

He’s gotta be above the law, because he’s always out for justice.

Coattail-Rider

He’s gotta be above the law and out for justice because he’s almost exclusively under siege.

FreezeTagFrank

"Born: April 10, 1952 (**age 69 years**), Lansing, MI" Nice

Reika202327

Why did this comment make me laugh so hard???

HarryBaughl

This [video](https://youtu.be/BzIHyF7UWY4) (NSFW) I found of some guys making fun of Steven Seagal. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

Last_Sundae_6894

His SNL episode was cringe af 😬

TheYoungestMan

According to David Spade, Steven Seagal was the worst host they have ever had

rotzgabel

Steven Segal and Jean Claude van Damme.

Thud2

A lot of actors have trouble overcoming the lack of english skills in english language movies. I was surprised when I watched "JCVD". He was pretty good. The pretty boy shit was all gone in old age.

[deleted]

But have you seen him run?

sdmf6577

Its like he has a fire down below

dgood527

Yeah but Under Siege...quality

Asleep_Structure_493

doesn't count - he was a novel action hero using Aikido - was never about his acting. Sure he sucks. I agree there.

[deleted]

Sherri Moon Zombie. She’s hot, she’s sassy…but her acting doesn’t amaze me.

tittiebream

Tootie fucking frootie

Slamdancingduck

Exactly, just because you can cast your wife in your film, doesn’t mean that you should! You’d think she’d at least get better after some time and a shitload of acting jobs but sadly no…still terrible, each and every time.

sabbman138

I’m honestly surprised that this isn’t much higher. I hear this a lot. I’ve never been removed from the situation while she’s acting but apparently a lot of people have. Perhaps I’m just distracted by her for other reasons :)

PM_UR_REBUTTAL

Miss Piggy. She has been riding Kermit the Frogs charisma for too long. I don't know what she is going to do after the breakup, but I don't think Dolly Parton will work with her again after that last fiasco.

jefftheaggie69

People might come after me for this, but Awkwafina. It’s more like she’s mediocre in the sense that she tries to be a comedian for some of the characters she plays as, but it feels really forced

SIacktivist

I like her a lot, but I totally get that. Everything I've seen her in has been very "Awkwafina playing herself", which seems to be pretty common nowadays.

Mavywavy13

I just thought she was a Bojack character. Then she voiced the dragon from Raya and ow my ears :(

nicolemorelishot

Completely agree

good-witch-

you should watch "the farewell," it might change your mind on her acting skills

dejcoy

Perfect example of casting to type. She was awesome in that role

__AnotherGuy__

Probably Paltrow ? Like she won an oscar and I honestly didnt even find her performance that special, she is just okay imo

Simply_Sky

Tbf she only won the Oscar due to Harvey Weinstein and his ruthless Oscar campaign. Everyone was outraged when she won at the time

TheAero1221

Was he giving out Oscar's to his favorites or some shit? Fuck, feels gross just typing that...

haysoos2

Imagine what she must have had to do in order to gain that level of support from Weinstein. After that, she deserves at least an Oscar. No wonder she's been trying to stick crystals and candles up her hooha ever since.

Agronyx

The comment made me lol. Then throw up in my mouth. Well done.

Own_Presence1271

I think she pretty good in The Talented Mr. Ripley

GimmeThatRyeUOldBag

I liked her in _Sliding Doors_, too. Thought her English accent was pretty good.

KimmiK_saucequeen

She plays the same character every time lmaooo

dabomerest

Like Owen Wilson

2shack

Wow!

bluehiro

Her name was the first one that popped into my head. Hollywood is full of incredibly talented people and I always wondered where the fuck she came from?

PatSmiles17

She was born into a film family. It seems really common that children of celebrities are either incognito and unknown or else they follow in their family's footsteps.

aisecherry

it seems common that children of celebrities are often either famous or not famous? gee whiz who coulda guessed... (not tryna be rude I just thought it was funny I swear)

Necessary-Ad3576

Her mom was an actress and her dad was a film producer and director. Lol what’s the word I’m looking for? When you only get something because of family members…. Ah yes, nepotism. It funny how many garbage actors only made it because their parents were old Hollywood.

AdApprehensive8214

Dakota johnson

gheistling

Jason Momoa. Dude's a hottie, but he's got the acting range of a grapefruit.

[deleted]

Frick. I find him so good looking I haven't noticed. You might have ruined his film work for me!

Incongruent

I mean to be fair, I haven’t seen him play anything other than strong, stoic, quiet, or smartass. Has a director ever really given him anything more interesting to work with?

joliesmomma

I don't know. "No." doesn't seem that hard of a line to say and I think he nailed that one

KhuxAkuna

This needs to be so much higher, dear God is it terrible

No-Definition-7243

Kim k. Sex tape was horrible

kickit1

If only she had a jacuzzi

goeers81

I'll say Jean-Claude Van Damme, just for splits and giggles

KirbyBucketts

How dare you. Timecop is my generations Citizen Kane.

Ddraig1965

He’s the missing link between real acting and Claymation.

femmemalin

Amber Heard

Nick_J_at_Nite

Heard what?

AdApprehensive8214

Plus she’s an abusive b*tch

obscureferences

I believe the word you're looking for is cunt.

Insanebrain247

Nah, she lacks the depth and warmth.

SnoopyMacarons

Jenifer Lopez hands down

Swimming-Site-7682

I haven't watched any current movies she's been in, but in her earlier years as an actress, she always, and I mean ALWAYS plays a selfless no flawed character with both her parents deceased, just so people could feel sorry for her character. It got old after awhile, and I stopped watched her films.

welluuasked

She's good in Hustlers, mostly because she finally dropped the absurd premise that anyone would buy her as an everyday, down-on-her-luck girl next door and played the absolutely cutthroat glamorous diva bitch she is

KirbyBucketts

She's not a great actress, but she was certainly not horrible in her early stuff like U-Turn, Out of Sight, The Cell, and Selena.

AdApprehensive8214

Kaley Cuoco

jamjamjelly5

She was surprisingly really good in The Flight Attendant

Sk-yline1

Ok but it’s hard to judge someone’s acting off the Chuck Lorre black hole of bad television that is The Big Bang Theory

doodilydude

Demi Lovato. Thank goodness they’ve* stuck to music. *edit: mis-pronouned

Anomandiir

*they’ve

Accomplished_Cup_922

Tommy Wiseau (Don’t hate me…I love him)

sensitiveinfomax

Anyway, how's your sex life?

Unimportant-1551

You are just not advanced enough to understand the true majesty that is Tommy Wiseau and his acting prowess, he is the man for which every director, producer and actor go to be trained. He is the acting god who just provides all the other famous actors tiny morsels of his skill so they can become well known

oscarwildebeets

Oh hai Accomplished_Cup_922!

iamclear

Hillary Duff. She never sounds natural, she always sounds like she’s reading from a script.

crystal-jellyfish

So true, but for some reason I love her anyway

Saul_T_Bauls

Kat Dennings. It sounds like she just reads her lines off the script.

Plantayne

Zoe Deschanel Same character in literally everything. She’s the hipster Schwarzenegger.

itsniceinpottsfield

Yes. Literally the same character in everything. She’s the manic pixie dream girl’s slightly more rounded out but still just as much “omg im so quirky” sister.

Considered_Dissent

> She’s the manic pixie dream girl’s slightly more rounded out but still just as much “omg im so quirky” sister. Or to put it another way, she's that character while they're still on their meds.

dgood527

Most perfect description of her

[deleted]

Aw man. She was great in Almost Famous.

B1gChuckDaddySr

Kim Kardashian

[deleted]

TheChainLink2

Tommy Wiseau Granted, his terrible acting is actually a big part of what made him famous. I do think he’s improving though. If you compare his “performance” in The Room to his more recent movie Best F(r)iends, he’s a lot more competent.

SnooRadishes6032

Have you seen his YouTube channel? It's full of gold.

TheChainLink2

This enigma of a man has a YouTube channel? This ought to be good.

Horkersaurus

Chris Pratt was pretty rough in Tomorrow War, his first scene with JK Simmons was not great.

dgood527

In his defense that script was absolute garbage. I think he is a decent enough actor, not great of course but ok. Bad writing is bad writing though.

Own_Presence1271

Have you seen Parks and Recreation

lolodune

The right answer is William Shatner

fo55iln00b

You should hear him sing

MontytheBold

But he was so good looking in the original Star Trek, so I forgive him.

[deleted]

ezurosa

I think she was pretty good in enola tho

-anne-of-cleves-

I feel so sorry for that girl. Her family behaves so strangely surrounding her career that I can only assume they're playing the long game and using Millie as a trust fund, meanwhile letting her be taken advantage of by grown ass men while she's a literal child. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years she goes full Sarah Lynn.

Hugebluestrapon

She was good as a person with no social skills who could barely talk. I cant believe how sexualized she is by the media too. She looks like a 12 year old boy and they treat her like Miley during the wrecking ball phase

crystal-jellyfish

Yeah I thought she was TERRIBLE in Godzilla vs Kong.

bargman

They totally changed her character from King of the Monsters, in which she was fine.

xenoprotocol

Well to be fair her and Kyle chandler just returned to have some continuity in the Monsterverse.

Sk-yline1

You think so? I’ve seen her in a few things and I think she’s pretty talented. Ditto the comment above though, the fetishization of her is so creepy

the_girthbelow

They're trying to make her the new young Natalie Portman. She was an amazing actress as a kid and since they kinda look alike, they've been pushing her forward.

ladyofbraxis

Kirsten Dunst. She shakes her head whenever she’s trying to convey emotion. I can’t even watch this girl. Anything from Interview to Bring it On to Spider-Man. It’s distracting.

dejcoy

Her most recent tv work is impressive. Also her character in Eternal Sunshine is very well written and she plays it perfectly

welluuasked

I'm eh on her overall but she's incredible in Interview with the Vampire. And pretty great in Fargo.

nerdmoot

This is literally 3/4 of the entire profession.

andibtw

True but I also feel like that's because it's not hard to be an okay actor, but near impossible to be an incredible one.

Own_Presence1271

Maybe you should try it.

ToiletNachos

Mike Tyson

DerekPaxton

Barely convincing as Mike Tyson in his roles.

sabbman138

In all fairness Mike Tyson isn’t an actor. He’s a boxer. And an entrepreneur of pigeons lol. Really all he does is cameos of himself in films.

fr3kysnail

Mark Wahlberg Vin Diesel #Twofer

thornybacon

I thought Wahlberg was great in The Departed...

EvilJ0E

Yea that movie was sick.

goeers81

I thought Vin Diesel was phenomenal in Guardians of the Galaxy. Such range!

tequilaearworm

I just hate Whalberg because he blinded a Vietnamese grocer in a racial attack and threw rocks at a little black girl in another.

welsh_nutter

vin diesel was only cast in fast and furious because of his name

iBelieveInSpace

Well shit I never thought about that. Mind blown. To be fair, he's got that crazy deep voice that everyone loves in an action movie

Feeling_Plant_3935

vin diesel isn’t his real name. his name is mark sinclair.

Iontknowcuz

Dwayne Johnson

Caleb_Phillips

Guys I’m sorry… Keanu Reeves. He’s a delightful human, I love him, but it’s true. Don’t come at me.

shmooboorpoo

I was going to say this if someone else hadn't. The best part is that he knows he's not a great actor. A friend of mine was in a summer stock play with him years ago and told me he was one of the sweetest and humblest actors he's ever worked with. Keanu deserves every bit of his success just from being a truly lovely person (and he's pretty easy on the eyes...) But no, not a super talented actor.

MartianSheepHunter

This was the first one that came to mind. I love him, and I love watching his movies, but I don’t think he’s objectively an amazing actor by a long shot…

sabbman138

I upvoted you for being brave enough to post your opinion on a opinion related question, even though people usually suffer the consequences if it goes against the grain. Myself, I will always see him as Ted from the bill and Ted movies.

LutherJustice

This should absolutely be stickied at the top and the thread closed.

goldenlegend24

Channing tatum

Maxxbrand

Have you not seen 21 jump st? Lmao he's hilarious and also a really good guy

Admirable-Deer-9038

He was hysterical in Free Guy though a small part. He’s very lovely to look at so put him in more movies I say!

PhaseOfRage

Mary Kate and/or Ashley Olsen.

Later_Player

Kristen Stewart.

ultravioletblueberry

Came to say this. It’s difficult for me to watch any movie with her in it.

[deleted]

I just recently heard that they cast her as Princess Diana and I was like NOOOOO!!!

the_comatorium

She's been excellent in the past few films she's done so I would relax a bit. She won Best Actress at Cannes a few years back.

pearlito

I think people underrate her because they are stuck on her role in Twilight, but she’s really a lot better than that.

Sk-yline1

I think she’s pretty decent, she just gets cast in shitty roles

mybodybuildscoffins

Check out a film called Personal Shopper, she’s incredible in that.

randomlygeneratedman

Agreed. I think she's actually a talented actor, but she just hasn't been given the most challenging roles.

obscureferences

She was in a Savage Garden clip I think. Totally nailed that mute nobody role.

Krumplin

Liv Tyler

Thud2

Ahhnold. But I guess I'm glad he did. Edit; I wonder if he could actually fight well in real life when he was younger.

Unleashtheducks

I would say Arnold Schwarzenegger is a actually a very good physical performer, he has terrific control of his body and uses it to convey information the way most actors use words.

MickeyRipple

He got better over time, until the scripts were shit. He is far better than people give him credit

Thud2

I bet he would kill an Austrian speaking role. I wonder if he's done any. I'll have to check IMDB.

Woven-Winter

Haha! His accent is considered very "hickish" in German to the point that he never gets to do his own dubs in German because he sounds like a yokel. It doesn't fit with how he looks at all. (Note, I am not a German speaker, let alone Austrian German. But my mom's from Germany and said this is a common sentiment there.)

AJR1623

Case in point: True Lies

ApartPersonality1520

I loved him in twins

RachelWWV

You really ought to watch "Maggie." I was shocked at how well he did in that one, and it's worth watching in general.

Thud2

I will. Thanks.

dorkingwed

That the one about the Zombie daughter? If so complete change of role for Arnie and he does well for it.

Little-Sea-6868

Have you seen The Last Action Hero? It's pretty meta for its time, and Arnold seems to be having fun making fun of the type of characters he portrays. It's cheesy 80s style, but in like a satirical way. The kid sidekick is annoying, but you'll also see a younger Charles Dance

[deleted]

Terminator and Twins. Both great movies. He played those roles great

OldBob10

John Travolta

mexesss

Chloe grace Moretz

Ctrl-O

For me it's a tie between Megan fox and Kevin hart

ir_blues

I don't know many Megan Fox movies, always considered her rather underrated and limited by bad scripts. Do you have examples for her lack of acting abilities?

itsniceinpottsfield

Kevin Hart CANNOT act. He plays the same type of character in (almost) everything and you can bet theres going to be at least 1 joke around the fact he’s short

Relevant_Sky

I used to think that too, but I just watched him in Netflix's Fatherhood and he's really grown a lot as an actor.

BuckeyeMason

He was amazing in Fatherhood, I thought it was going to be more of a comedy since he was Kevin Hart, but damn he showed some drama chops that surprised the hell out of me

Own_Presence1271

I just watched Jennifer's Body yesterday for the first time she was good in that.

asstrong

vin deasel the rock and the #1 steven seagal

iamnobody1970

Most comedians are bad actors but we forgive them because they make us laugh

wittor

Maybe we just have to wait until it happens with James Corben.

stoneuf

I dunno. I often find I prefer comic actors in their more serious roles. Stranger than Fiction, Everything Must Go, Punch Drunk Love, largely anything Robin Williams and Tom Hanks (who really came to fame as a comedic actor) really put their hearts into… And let’s not forget Jamie Fox.

haysoos2

Jim Carrey's best role by a considerable margin is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Bill Murray is also very underrated as a dramatic actor.

Mitch_from_Boston

Seth. Rogen.

allboolshite

Eh heh heh heh he

kiyoshi20b

Growing up I always thought Kevin Costner wasn't a very good actor. His delivery of lines felt awkward.

Myrt2020

Open Range is one of his best westerns

Thud2

I agree. He's one of those actors where the role has to fit HIM. He can't adapt to a role. What you see is what you get.

kiyoshi20b

Robin Hood is a prime example of that.

Thud2

What was the casting director thinking on that one.

slimzimm

Jeff Goldblum. I’m convinced he only plays himself in every movie. He just happens to be a character.

[deleted]

[удалено]

slimzimm

I still think he’s amazing, but his acting skills aren’t a thing. I don’t think I’ve seen any two of his films and gone, “those are different characters”.

haysoos2

He is absolutely amazing, but not in a "completely become another person" chameleon sense like Daniel Day Lewis, or Gary Oldman. Jeff Goldblum is up there in a rare pantheon of actors who are so naturalistic it's virtually impossible to believe they're performing from a script. Every scene and every line appears to be the first time they've ever said that sentence. Everything is a brilliant, natural, believable reaction. Jeff Bridges is another actor who is a master of this technique. Watching the Big Lebowski it's hard to believe he's actually speaking scripted dialogue as he seemingly grasps and fumbles for an explanation for his actions and the ins and outs of the case. Man.

thuguelet

IGary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis are two of the best actors of the last like 20 years. Almost all actors don't live up to them

_SAKY_

skydaddy8585

Many of you are picking actors/actresses that actually have a few good or even really good movies but you saw a couple you thought they weren't good in and aren't thinking of the rest. Tom Cruise I've seen. He has several very good movies. Mark Wahlberg is another, he has a few good ones. A few you picked literally built their career on b movie action films like JCVD or Seagal. Everyone knows none of their movies are masterpieces. It's just campy over the top action. No one ever said they are a Daniel Day Lewis.

[deleted]

Tom Cruise. His characters are all the same. Different names. Same acting style. It’s maddening.

allboolshite

And then there was Tropic Thunder.

HarryBaughl

Legendary performance
