Dyson Sphere 2 site, Iota Ceti in the Cetus Constellation. The Cetus was a sea monster in Greek mythology which both Perseus and Heracles needed to slay. A lot of story to tell, the sails orbit is as big as it can be to reach the planet. The planet is powered by the star and making mega antimatter.

116,400 in that swarm so far, I am aiming for another diorama-style sphere, I'll update with some pictures after I get some layers started. Launch planet is ready to go with 8000 rockets in 400 silos, 20000 more on the planet, and another 10000 back on Osiris waiting to ship. I plan on keeping that production right where it is and making only sails and what I need locally. I'm sitting on heaps of resources there that are idle but shipping interstellar is time-consuming. Osiris is only 3.4 LY away so it isn't a real bad wait yet but another star I wanted to build at is 35 light-years from this one. I called for fuel rods at a depot I put there and powered and it was a very long wait. The dog star will have to wait.

FYI sails are one of the biggest hits to performance, might want to convert these to an actual sphere before starting on a second star or your game might really start to crawl Dope screenshot though, sails really do look fucking awesome

nab_noisave_tnuocca

I heard they still count as individual entities when part of the sphere, so same hit to performance

The swarm is part of the art I plan here, I tap it for the power to build the sphere, then the sails can be killed. It was also a test on shipping those sails from another star system that has probably 300,000 in orbit. My fps will only drop when I fly thru that swarm to about 60. I'll throw a post up of the performance test numbers, that will detail everything. The Osiris swarm is still chugging away, I'll head it with a pic of that finished sphere.

The sail entities are cumulative even when you're not in the system (to a lesser degree, of course) and even once they've been absorbed. Huge impact on save file size, too. Maybe you're talking about killing the swarm orbit, though (which would in fact delete them). This is so easy to fix that there have been mods previously to do it (outdated now) so I feel good we'll see spheres optimized before 1.0. Temporary inconvenience.

Iota Ceti is in my cluster as well, it's near the farthest star, Arkab, from my base system of Mintaka, which is one of the three stars in Orion's belt.

The Hunter, take some inspiration from that and try and work with it.
