If I go to a restaurant and get tea, will they give me milk for the tea if I ask for it?

They will probably even give you cheese for your tea if you ask for it. Most restaurants try to fulfill their customers wishes if it’s not too much of an inconvenience for them to fulfill.

already-taken-wtf

If they have any milk, they probably would.

GFrohman

Most would, yes.

Tiny_European

Of course

…once we asked for a spoon to go with our Guiness. The waiter looked confused, but we still got our spoon ;)

Of course, they'll be happy to bring the tiny pitcher of milk they serve with coffee and tea. But you should ask up front, otherwise they might bring your hot water with lemon in it the first time. Just say "I'd like a cup of hot tea, with milk please." Source: my dad did this every time we went out.

What country are you in?

wt_anonymous

USA

Honest-as-can-be

in my experience (US and Europe) they give you milk even if you *don't* ask for it.

Winter_Childhood5032

Yes.

Curmudgy

Yes, except perhaps in Chinese restaurants. Don’t use milk in Chinese tea.

GandalfDGreenery

What country are you in? They probably will. In the UK it's standard to bring the milk with the tea. In the USA, they may bring you little pots of half and half, and may give you a funny look if you ask if they have some milk instead, but if they have milk, they will usually give you some.
