Venus And Mars vs Tug Of War
By - PhotographAway8039
V&M permeates 70's magic, from needle drop to the inner most groove. You can smell the smoke and cheap paper-cup beer of a stadium show, and Call Me Back Again IMO is the best Beatles song they never got around to playing.
What are your thoughts on Spirits of Ancient Egypt?
Dig it. Starts off like a pale horse in the desert, then charges up like a pinball toward Floyd territory. A great groove into Side 2!
Love me some Magneto and Titanium Man
What's That You're Doing is the primary reason V&M gets my vote.
Imagine if he replaced that with Rainclouds, or even I'll Give You A Ring?
I love What’s That You’re Doing
Out of curiosity, what do you not like about WTYD? It’s just so funky!
I just feel it sounds like a second rate Stevie Wonder song that ended up on a Paul McCartney album. I don’t think the song is anything special, but mostly it is that it is very much a Stevie Wonder song, with a Stevie Wonder melody, and Paul is just singing on top of it, along for the ride. That in and of itself is not something to necessarily dislike, but I think it has no business being on a Paul solo album.
That’s just me.
Ah, I see where you’re coming from now - a valid point. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
What's that you're doing is fantastic. It seems to be an underrated track.
It's my favourite from the album
Which child do you love the most?
I love Venus and mars album great album and songs on it I love it . beacause it feel songs in made so good. Elizabeth
I chose Tug of War but it was insanely difficult. I think it’s a better album at a collective than V&Ms, and the songs flow better.
Having said that Call Me Back Again is perhaps my favorite Paul song ever, and I Love Listen to What The Man Said. But I also love Wanderlust, Take It Away, Tug of War, Ballroom Dancing, heck I even like Ebony and Ivory, so don’t trust my tastes!
Both are great albums and slightly underrated actually.
I think Wanderlust is up there with Maybe I'm Amazed as one of his best.
I completely agree, it’s a real shame that it’s a fairly obscure track by Paul, it deserves the same treatment as Maybe I’m Amazed, and it deserves to be played live by Paul.
No competition. Venus for sure. ToW is (just in my opinion) Paul's weakest work
Not even close to being his worst
i didnt say worst. i said weakest. Paul doesnt have a worst. it still has good songs
Oh man. Move Wanderlust over and it’s an easy choice.
We need amazon to sell the CD for the song no more lonely nights please. The only CD there price is 84.00 dollars
