Post Game Thread: Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) at Baltimore Ravens (5-1)
By - nfl_gamethread
CBS can fuck themselves for giving us Greg Gumble and the other boring fucker today.
Also, Duvernay is such a stud.
I still HATE that you guys grabbed Duve. I swear all my favorite Longhorns go to division rivals.
at least we got Limas Sweed
GG and AA were *still* finding shit to harp about despite an absolutely dominant performance by us in all three phases. Suggafuggindick.
At the end of the first half, they were comparing the two QBs: they said Lamar missed a few opportunities at the end (which is true) and that he needs to play better in the second half, and then said that Herbert was doing well but the Baltimore defense was playing amazing.
So basically the Ravens didn't score because Lamar wasn't playing well, and the Chargers didn't score because the Ravens defense was playing exceptionally well.
They also made a comment about how "if Lamar was just a second more patient, he could have made this throw to the receiver," meanwhile the replay shows the defense is swarmed around Lamar and a defender had his hands literally on Lamar's facemask as he throws the pass.
It's so fucking frustrating seeing the moving goal posts they use for Lamar vs Herbert/Mahomes/anyone.
Yeah they were corny as shit. Meanwhile Herbert was ass today and they didn’t shit on him. Not even trying to disrespect Herbert. I think he’s really good, but we owned his ass today.
He went into shock and never recovered the whole game.
Rookie level rattled.
At one point they said Lamar was finally playing up to the caliber of the best quarterbacks in the league.
What else does he need to do to please these people??
Adam Archuleta. He committed one of my biggest broadcaster pet peeves today. When Bozeman (without a doubt our best performing O-Lineman this year) went down with an injury, Adam goes "And you know Bozeman is one of their best lineman in my opinion". Like yea that's *everyone's* opinion dude.
Collinsworth does this a lot too. It goes: "In my opinion, *insert general consensus fact here*"
Of all the dumb things broadcasters do, *that's* your biggest pet peeve?
Mine is the stupid way Ian Eagle pronounces his name.
White people love Wayne Brady because he makes ~~Bryant~~ Greg Gumble look like Malcom X
So the ravens have to get a superman comeback to beat the 1-4 Colts, depend on a questionable no call and a last second nfl record field goal to beat the winless lions, and blow out a leading mvp candidate and one of the hottest offenses in the league.
That’s Ravens football baby! It’s funny though for real.
If you don't like that, you don't like Ravens football.
The Flacco years prepared me for a team that always plays down (or up) to the opponent.
Chargers looked like a juggernaut going in and the Ravens looked like a good but flawed team.
So naturally you guys take a giant shit on the chargers 🤷♂️
Ladies and gentlemen, The NFL.
(we say after looking like an 0-6 team in one half and a 6-0 team in the second half)
If that doesn’t scream Ravens football then I don’t know what does.
The NFL is anything but predictable.
I would recommend anyone who bets to stay away from anything involving the Ravens
Every time the Ravens have won the SB they have had a season like this.
To be fair Marquise Brown dropped like 3 touchdown passes against the lions. They should've blown them out.
34-6 ... Just as we all predicted...
I honestly did not think you guys could play this well with so many injuries on your roster.
Me neither lmao
I don't think anyone did. Still thought we'd be good but I wouldn't have predicted this record. It's a shame we had those injuries, because I think we had the best roster in the league before them. I would love to see what we'd be doing with JK, Gus, Stanley, Peters etc. LJ Fort is an underrated loss, he's very solid at inside LB, which has been our biggest problem so far. If we had him and Bynes to at least help out the young guys, it would be a much different D.
That was a good quality spanking given out by Baltimore
Unfortunately I'm a dom
Not today, you’re not
I picked the Ravens in my Pick 'em league because:
1. Thought Ravens could run on Chargers
2. West Coast team playing 1pm game on East Coast.
3. Windy AF = less passing
4. Hard to bet against Lamar, these days.
But, yeah, I was not expecting a blowout.
DeShon Elliott made a huge difference. Welcome back!
INT, Sack and a few PBUs baby. Also Stephens looked fantastic.
Stephens has been solid all year. Really happy with him
He was rough last week. If he doesn’t have to play as our deepest safety he can be very good.
To be fair, pretty much everyone was rough last week except Tavon and Calais. Absolutely massive difference from the entire defense today.
That INT was an incredible play. Straight up ripped it from Cook.
that was a good ol fahsion asswhooping
How the fuck do we dominate the Chargers but need a herculean miracle to beat the Colts and Lions.
The NFL is a lot more even than fans like to think and games can come down to a few lucky breaks, meaning that teams who are "good" and teams who are "bad" are a lot closer than most give them credit for?
Eli Manning once said when asked if he was "elite", he said (paraphrasing), "Yes, I'm elite. Just being and NFL franchise QB makes me elite."
Welcome to the NFL....if we play to our opponent, then good things coming playoff time 🤣
Hey now, no need to lump the colts in with the lions. Theyre pretty okay
Ravens D showed the fuck up today.
Also fuck you CBS for switching the game to WFT you fucks.
Yeah what was that about? Did they figure it wasn't competitive anymore?
Yea it was 34-6 with like 5 minutes and CBS said "welp"
It was like 12 mins I think. Game’s over but geez it was almost a full quarter left
I never got the Ravens game at all. It was always WFT because I live in the same county as their stadium. Fuck WFT. Im glad they loss.
Can confirm, fuck CBS.
At least you got the game. I live in Frederick County, which is definitely more Ravens territory, and we only had the WFT game.
Use sportsurge raven bro! Lots of ads to navigate through but more than worth it to see our boys play.
Fuck CBS for giving us that boring ass announcing team (although in retrospect it probably was for the best)
I kinda found them funny
archuleta was hilarious lol
I love how the crew found a way to show him getting his ankles broken by Vick lol
"I can't believe my own broadcasting crew would do this to me"
Then they showed a highlight of him whiffing a tackle on Vick lmao.
Our geriatric RBs heard everyone talking
Am I crazy for thinking Freeman looks not bad at all? He's a little slow to accelerate but he can make a guy miss pretty consistently.
Fuckers changing my entire opinion on him. Colts game he was mega clutch and today he looked damn solid again
There is a small chance that having more than three weeks practicing in the system is helping him out.
With Freeman it's more him being slow as fuck. Him and Murray tbh. But he found a spot this game and last with him just popping up and making a play
Nothing against the chargers, but when you're against the worst rush defense, any RB is going to do well.
That's a good point. I'm still tempering my expectations but he's done well with the limited touches he's gotten.
just don’t ask him to pass block and you should be good
I can certainly see why the elevated him over bell.
He's patient and finds the hole better than Murray or Bell. Good acceleration in space and he seems to be getting better each week.
Ravens really have an Island of Misfit Toys RB Committee and their ground game is as strong as ever. What in the world.
Lamar commands so much attention any old RB could average 4ypc in our offense.
Wow Chargers really didn’t show up today
CHARGERS FAILED TO CONNECT
Check Humphrey's pockets!
That game reminded me of 2019 a lot. Great full-team W.
But not quite as gratifying as the Rams 45-6 beat down.
Ended up going to that game. That was so fucking fun
I would almost say this was more gratifying. This game is going to be our gold standard for the year. Every week we will hold players to the standards they established today.
Queen, Bynes, Murray, Freeman, a bunch of guys who have underperformed for multiple weeks now have shown they can improve.
For the first time in a few weeks, I felt like we deserved the W.
I get they were heading East after a shootout against Cleveland, but man, I *really* thought the Chargers were going to play a better game than this.
It’s a matchup league, and just like against the browns we have zero run defense. Shit happens.
Also I don’t get our OC just running over and over and completely gameplanning Keenan out of the game
Did Keenan even have a catch? He's torched us before but I don't think I heard his name all day.
Finally the Ravens gave our hearts a break this week
Didn’t watch this game… what the fuck happened
we play bad raven play good
This is the pro analysis that ESPN is missing.
Ravens D was lights out, both qbs were pretty forgettable at best overall minus a few big plays from Lamar, Chargers really couldn't stop the run either and the Ravens did stop Ekler.
Herbie got fully loaded by our D.
Pre coke Lindsay Lohan was fine as hell.
Watching Mean Girls actually made me feel pain in my loins as a teenager.
Herbert was horrendous, Chargers have zero run defense, Ravens defense was lights out
Having Elliott back was clearly a huge factor. Also, and I hate to say this, but Patrick Queen being out a lot of the games with an injury might have helped us with the pass defense. Chargers are clearly a great team that had an off day.
Stephens was really great today. Not as athletic as Queen but he reads the game much better. Big difference today
I want Queen to be good so bad…
Edit: confused Stephens with Bynes
Great defense win by the Ravens.
Love you guys, good game.
Good game as well. You'll guys will be fine
Looking at our defense I beg to differ
Rush defense needs CPR...but the bye week came at a great time. Rooting for you guys to win the division still
Was it though? Cause we looked awful in every single aspect of this game.
well they played a very good game
Yeah that’s why it was a good game… (for us)
Don't worry too much BoltBros, you'll bounce back.
Lol imagine not scoring 7 points on the Ravens, am I right?
Well we have a bye week coming up, perfect time to look for a new kicker.
I hear Sarah Fuller is available
Lol. AFC West banter is always top banter.
Ravens dicking teams this year that is scary
And almost losing to the Lions and Colts
Both walk off wins. We overlooked both of them. We wont be overlooking anyone else on our schedule. Its brutal...
I hope so, we've definitely being playing to our competition. Stepped up against the AFCW teams, played down to the sub .500 teams. Guess we'll play strong in all the games except versus the Steelers then
Nah. The Ravens will definitely be fired up for the Steelers. Especially Bell & AV. That'll be more motivation to whoop that azz!!!
Just making a joke we'll play down to them since they're sub 500 ;P
Statement win by Baltimore
That's gonna shake up some power rankings.
Were allowed one bad game a year right.... right?
If that means they don't get shutdown by the Patriots again this year then :D
(in)famous tweet from Leveon
All I know is CBS can suck a giant asshole for switching the game from this over to the Chiefs vs the Washington Female Traffickers.
> Washington Female Traffickers.
That's new to me, and I love it.
Haha yeah, I posted something yesterday about the situation and somebody replied with it and now I’m using it any time I reference the team.
Reports of Baltimore's demise have been grossly exaggerated
Depth is a bitch
When both teams are even, Staley feels that the Chargers are at a great advantage and thus he does not hesitate to go for it on 4th down. When the Chargers are 3 points behind, Staley thinks that the Chargers are at a small advantage, and he so he goes for it to secure their "lead". When the Chargers are 7 points behind, Staley thinks that the Chargers are at a disadvantage and so he goes for it to regain control of the game. When the Chargers are 10+ points behind, Staley thinks that the team has reached a desperate situation and they are only waiting passively for their death if he does not go for it.
Dude would go for it on 5th down if he could
I really like Staley. I rather have a coach that believes in his offense than a coach thats scared on 4th and 1. That mf got guts. Love it!!!
He took it too far tho he damn near like that one Arkansas high school coach who never punts
😂🤣😂😂. Staley got a good offense though.
Coach is in college now, at Presbyterian
Despite what anybody thinks going for it was the right decision every time we did. All that changes if we punt is they take more time off the board to score.
Yeah I agree with you, I was hoping you'd punt on all of those plays. Inside the 20 would normally be questionable but the game was pretty out of hand at that point so punting would've been giving up with how our run game was looking.
r/leagueoflegends is leaking
My favorite pasta across every sport/esport that I follow, love to see it whenever it shows up.
For the other 99.9% of football fans let me explain to you what it's like being a Chargers fan. It's like you hired a dominatrix for the evening to edge you the height of sexual pleasure. The moment you can feel the sweet release coming, she instead stomps her stiletto heel into your ball sack. You start screaming the safe word, but she just leaves the heel in place until all pleasure is gone. Then you wrap your bloody sack in your LaDainian Tomlinson jersey and are reminded once again he wasn't selected to the NFL 100 team. You cry yourself to sleep and prepare your body to do this again next week.
I think the funniest part about this comment is the fact that 3 weeks ago he made [a positive version](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/pw1cb6/post_game_thread_los_angeles_chargers_21_at/hedzwf1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) after beating the Chiefs. What a turnaround
This version came first. Herbo has given me new life.
I am still pissed that LdT got the shaft like that like wtf
This is delicious pasta right holy fuck lmfao
up you go
That was one of the games this season
Rushing game bounced back in a big way,
Defense balled out,
Bateman solid debut aside from his late drop
Looking better than expected as this team continues to get healthier.
Wasn't expecting that. Smoked.
Just happy we have the Bye week after this game
Which is the best time to have this happen. Staley is going to be able to ride them like a demon for two straight weeks, because they don't want to feel like this ever again.
Hopefully we look for a new kicker. Obviously that was just one crumb in the shit sandwich today but I'm tired of all these easy missed points.
That extra point was not even close man idk where he was kicking it to
The goalpost in Andover
Difference in the game was yards on the ground. With QBs: 26 vs 187. Without QBs: 14 vs 143.
Even with a multitude of backs out, our run game still churns out yards. And the reason that is wears number 8
nah the reason is Pat Ricard, no joke
Project Pat out here blocking dudes into the 5th row
AFC West front runner with MVP caliber QB and dog water Defense.
Can we get a new script in here?
Wouldn't be the Chargers if we didn't come out and look like a bunch of frauds the week after a statement win
dont worry guys, well drop 30 in the fifth quarter.
Looking like Super Bowl contenders despite all the injuries.
That’s some stellar coaching right there
Good thing this game didn't get flexed
Feel like I just got a right hook into my jaw from the ravens
I did not expect for us to absolutely destroy the Chargers but I’m glad our defense showed up well today. We left at least 14 points off on offense which was disappointing, we’ve got to clean these mistakes up. Also fuck whoever didn’t let me watch the game on TV smh.
I sure hope this defense becomes the norm. They looked great! Averett really turned it around.
I think we struggled last week because we were so laser-focused on this game. We had none of that flatness from last week
Last week looked to me like a Raven's team that assumed it already had that game in the bag. When they came up against a very well prepared Colts team they were blindsided and it took them most of the game to get their shit together.
We can finally defend a screen, swing passes and tackle in the open field! I’m so happy.
Chargers going west to east is tough. Don’t let this be an indication of your season
I'm convinced we aren't any good now
I've been telling you all offseason
*For two decades
The Chargers looked like a young team with a young coach today. They got punched in the mouth and couldn’t get comfortable again. They will learn how over time.
Imagine losing to Baltimore by more than 1 point.
Ravens looking like a SB contender. Would be cool to see a Ravens Rams SB tbh.
Personally, I would like to see Aaron Donald nowhere near Lamar Jackson's knees, but I *might* be biased.
Ravens - Cardinals.
The game to prove who’s the best pocket passer in the league atm!
Did we ever get off the plane? We had the intensity of an fall ball scrimmage.
I was already expecting a loss since Baltimore's strengths counter our weaknesses, but I was hoping to put up more of a fight.
I feel like I haven’t heard it much, but it’s always a tough travel between LA/SD and Baltimore. There’s been so many games over the years between these teams that are just headscratchers.
That was the fastest game I ever seen. Thank god it wasnt close, Idk if my heart could take another game like last week.
Lamar Jackson now has the most wins for any QB under age 25. Passes dan marino
Still has \~3 months before he turns 25
Well that was a disappointing game in terms of hype
I wasn't disappointed
I had a blast.
I was the opposite of disappointed
i had a great time personally
Lamar Jackson on LA football teams: https://i.imgur.com/UyiWmHU.jpg
Sometimes when I'm sad, I think about that 2019 game against the Rams.
GG Ravens. Hopefully we can grow from that smack-down. Luckily we have a bye week to figure some stuff out.
Power rankings better not disrespect the Ravens again this week
I like us being underrated
Ravens dropping 2, calling it now
i did not have a good time.
I feel so greedy. We literally blow out the Chargers and here I am disappointed that Lamar put up pedestrian stats :(
He had to. Charger pass defense is elite.
That Bateman interception broke my heart . That’s some madden bullshit 😂
...it could mean a lot for seeding
Football doesn’t matter long term
Huh? With this win now all we have to do is beat the Dolphins and Steelers and then we're in complete control of the #1 seed.
What? It matters as much as any other win. Probably more than the average due to likely tiebreakers for seeding against the Chargers
