Mithrix scaling on a monsoon godrun is just such BS
By - linkebus
Difficulty scaling is exponential and more potent on a single boss like Mithrix
Yeah i noticed the same with Alloy Worship Unit. Makes the last level just unappealing after a long run. Will obliterate from now on because i see no point wasting 30min+ on a non challenging boss..
How do you all get so many rows of items? I usually only make it to 1.25 rows by the time I die before even reaching mythrix
This was a stage 60 run
Holy hell. How do you loop that much?
By the time you reach stage 8 you're pretty much just clearing everything super fast.
Woolie gaming has a great youtube channel with some teaching videos.
One of the autowins is a wisp printer but that's no good here as there aren't enough kills to harm mithrix in this fight successfully. Anyone know other exponentially powerful items?
I’m not entirely sure but OP is also playing with Corpsebloom, a regen rack, and of course many many healing items, so they’ve got dummy thick healing. An aegis with that combo is godtier because you just never ever stop healing
Foreign Fruit, Gesture of the Drowned, some Fuel Cells, 2 Aegis, Rejuv Rack. I had loads of health and barrier to spare
With the way runs typically go, you usually either ascend to godlike power and dominate a run, do good enough to go kill mithrix, or die before you ever really get many items up.
Go fast, take 2-3 days. I made it to almost stage 100 that way but stopped cause I was getting REEEEALLY bored
He could've went to void fields too
nah i never do that cheese field, i always play vanilla monsoon with no artifacts, that shit is for cheesers. cheers.
My b lmao
U good my G 🤠
You only play monsoon? Wow such a cheese, you're not even a good player if you don't play with a blindfold on, smh how the game was intended to play 😒
How is Void Fields not "vanilla"? lol
They were talking about Void Fields + Sacrifice farming. I highly doubt hsudo was suggesting they got that much from the 9 extra items in Void Fields.
If you're doing void fields early, those 9 items, including a few greens and a red. That is probably around the amount you could get from a single stage.
This just brings you ahead of the scaling of the regular game, this effect can then snowball later into the game.
Imagine playing the game to have fun
You're playing the game on your own wrong. Duh.
Lmao I don't get the downvotes on this i fully agree. If i play multiplayer and they go voids i just disconnect it's just such a fucking chore
If you're having a god run, you better be ready to face a god /s
But fr, at that point obliterating is basically the only option unless you've got a spaming equip and mobility. I like to think of it like Mithrix prepares much faster than you so you have to catch him before he can accumulate too much power. If he does, the character realizes their mistake and feels like they're facing something insurmountable so they have to obliterate to try on a different life.
So did you win?
Yes but almost fell asleep in my chair as the clock was 3 in the morning
And then he takes all your items and one shots you
Actually that's the easiest stage for some reason (during a god run)
Is it cuz he’ll just randomly die? That’s happened to me when I’ve had a crazy amount of items
Yeah I killed him after 105 waves and he basically got deleted instantly once the stage started, I got startled by the shuttle timer like "where did he go..?"
Is this a serious complaint?
well consider this if you spent 3-4 hours on a really good run would you rather obliterate or finish it of with the "real ending", defeating the big bad boss.. obliterating just feels unrewarding to me. if you want to go for the boss just be ready for the most mind numbing experience the game have to offer. just hold attack and jump for 30-60 minutes.
At least you still have the Twisted Scavengers as an option when obliterating, though they aren't super satisfying either.
I'd rather obliterate, but we might be agreeing.
For me, the fun of the game is seeing how your items interact and allow you to defeat the horde. However, Mithrix doesn't fit into that algorithm at all. It's not a fun fight, so I'd rather obliterate.
plus, lunar coins :3
Is this a serious comment? It's not hard to tell that this isn't great game design that could be tweaked to not be so brain-dead for the player
\*Plays game that increases difficulty as time passes. Plays for hours. Doesn't understand why it takes forever to beat boss\*
It's a game that allows and encourages you to to play one run for an extended period of time. I don't think thats a good excuse to scale the final boss to having to circle him for 30-45 minutes minimum while holding left click because his health has gone above the integer limit.
.......so you just wanna one tap mithrix. Ok.
Look man you're obviously only seeing this the way you want to. I never said anything about one shotting him. Even the OP has replied to you explaining that all he did was a mind numbing 30-60 minute fight of just holding attack and jump.
282 minutes of play time. On risk of rain 2. "Why does mithrix have some much health?"
Makes zero sense.
Oh so you're just stupid Carry on
Just wait until you fight the lunar scavengers
Bro those things are annoying
~~The fact that you're Acrid makes this even more insane. Poison should be doing 2% of his HP per second. Actually, double that for every single set of 5 armor piercing you have. I didn't look into your items or if you're using blight, but that would make like 90% of the damage happening here ONLY Poison.~~
~~Quick edit: well apparently Mithrix just RESISTS poison, clearly that's a green debuff I'm seeing and due to the mediocre quality I can't see armor piercings number, but I do see there are two digits. That should be at least 8% of Mithrix' HP per second. Also I just remembered death mark exists, slap another 4% and make it 12%. Either I'm bogus here or something is completely wrong with Mithrix.~~
~~Another edit cuz now I'm really curious about this whole thing: my math was bogus, poison deals 0.33% of the targets max HP per tick, 1% per second. Which going by the same exact process (I thought it was 2% per second) we end up with 6%. You can easily figure out 6% per second is going to take about 20 seconds to reach 100% and this fight is clearly not taking 20 seconds.~~
Welp, turns out I'm really fuckin' dumb, in case you wanna read that I'll leave it here. Apparently now I find out poison has a cap at 50*100% Acrid's damage per second. Sorry for not doing my research beforehand, I tried to force it with my own knowledge about the game which is limited to non-code/wiki content.
Yeah, most monster's stats just cap at level 99, which you typically to reach somewhere around stage 10 on Monsoon, but "special" bosses (i.e. Aurelionite, Alloy Worship Unit, Twisted Scavengers, and Mithrix) have additional health and damage scaling that just keeps going past level 99.
Should've played loader lol
For what reason, may I ask? To get there faster? To deal high burst damage? I don't see either of these really being a game changer with so many items making most characters perform similarly, but I'm no expert when it comes to doing absurdly long runs in this game so I'm mostly just speculating
You also have to consider that Mithrix is one enemy, so you can’t proc all your passive items on him like you could a swarm of enemies
Doggo with eyes of heresy is just *chefs kiss*
This is the thing I dislike about Mithrix (regardless of the exponential scaling).
The set-up that works best against the rest of the game (massive AoE damage and insane proc items) works the worst against Mithrix and gets you murdered fastest when he nabs your items. Its really frustrating to feel like you have a crazy run and then get bogged down in a single target fight (this games weakest aspect mechanically) and the get insta-killed by your own items when you duck out of cover to try and hit him.
Love the rest of the fight (issue with single target gameplay notwithstanding) but absolutely hate the item stealing round. Tend to just skip the big boy at this point to be honest.
If you bring a royal capacitor (or any damaging equipment for the most part) and like 2 fuel cells you can triple zap him after he takes your stuff and he’ll either die cuz of his low health for that phase or give back enough items to make him pretty easy. Also just in case you don’t know, you keep all charges of equipment even if you lose the fuel cells, they just won’t come back after use till you get the fuel cells back.
Thanks for the advice!
I know most of the pointers around how to beat him. I just find the general ethos of the stage to be a negative to the general flow of the game. Then again, I’m fully in support of how good of a job they’ve managed to do of making an entertaining and interesting boss fight in the hordiest of horde shooters. I just really dislike the item stealing stage.
That kind of health bar and the damage still sucks? Poison is kinda cringe.
I can feel my switch bricking trying to play the game like that.
I can literally hear it blowing out steam as we speak
I did a stage 100 Mithrax fight on monsoon. I managed to get to the final stage but after he got my old war stealth kits it was over
Mithrix and the last stage made me drop RoR2. Runs become too long, and the moon/mithrix/return part of the game are so tedious on top of the length with death a millisecond away at almost all times.
For the first time ever, I beat mithrix tonight. Tried to jump into one of those portals and it didn't take. So I thought there must be another way,...ran around wasting time then decided to try another portal and this time it sent me somewhere. Because of it not taking me the first time I jumped in one, that wasted time caused me to die when the ship was at 90%. This fucking game can really be a bit much sometimes.
i guess this is just a problem since most late looping runs rely on insane aoe/proc chains from things like perforator -> uke -> meathooks -> bands etc... im not sure there is a way to do insane damage in late loops without these proc chains.
Bro I did this after 105 waves so imagine that 😂
